Switzerland sees Putin's presence at further peace conferences in Ukraine as possible.

Swiss President Viola Amerd believes that Putin 's presence at further peace conferences in Ukraine is possible despite the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. She said this at a press conference following the Peace Summit on 16 June, Interfax-Ukraine has reported.

Despite the International Criminal Court's warrant for Vladimir Putin's arrest, his presence can be arranged at further potential conferences and negotiations on peace in Ukraine organised by Switzerland," the Swiss president said.

Asked whether Putin's arrival in Switzerland could be organised in view of the ICC arrest warrant issued against him for further talks and possibly a peace conference in Ukraine, Amerd said.

Yes, if the presence of a statesman is necessary for a conference, an exception can be made. And in the case of negotiations on peace in Ukraine with Russia, this would be just such a case. But it has to be a government decision," Viola Amerd said.

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis also said that this could be organised.

It is possible according to our laws. Of course, we have to do it together with the ICC, but as a host state - we can make an exception to this, - said Ignazio Cassis.

We will remind, Socialportal reported that the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Putin, accusing him of responsibility for war crimes in Ukraine.
