Kellogg named the ceasefire condition today and compared Putin to Nicholas II

The conditions for a truce are obvious: freezing the current front line and Russia's realisation that it will no longer get new territories in Ukraine. But Putin is afraid of looking like the last Russian tsar, who was shot with his family after his abdication.
In order to achieve a truce between Ukraine and Russia, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin will have to admit that he will not get any more territories. This was stated by former US presidential special envoy Keith Kellogg in an interview with NHK.
While speaking to journalists, he expressed the opinion that a ceasefire is possible "today" if Ukraine and Russia freeze the current front lines. He emphasised that it is Putin, not Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who does not want peace, UNIAN wrote.
According to Kellogg, Putin should agree that he will not get any more Ukrainian territories. He added that the next step would be for Putin to realise that "he has nothing more to gain".
The former US presidential special envoy said that Russia wants Ukrainian troops to withdraw from Donbass, while Ukraine refuses to cede the territory. He added that this is one of the main stumbling blocks between the sides.
In addition, Kellogg said that the sanctions are dealing a serious blow to the Russian economy. He also said that the Russian Federation has probably suffered losses of 1.2-1.4 million killed and wounded.
According to Kellogg, Putin fears that he will become a second Nicholas II. He recalled that the last Russian tsar was shot dead after abdicating.
The US announced "additional progress" on Ukraine. In early March, US Special Representative Steve Whitkoff said that "additional progress" was expected in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine in the coming weeks. He recalled that Ukraine and Russia had earlier carried out another prisoner exchange, returning 1,000 people.
According to Whitkoff, the talks are continuing and additional progress is expected in the coming weeks. He also thanked the Swiss government for holding these talks.
