According to the Interior Ministry, more than 26,000 Ukrainians are reported missing

This was reported by the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

Now more than 26,000 people are wanted as missing under special circumstances. Of these, 11,000 are civilians and almost 15,000 are military," Deputy Interior Minister of Ukraine Leonid Timchenko said on Thursday on the air of the National Telethon.

According to him, information about each missing person is put on record and a register is kept.

We are co-operating with the National Police of Ukraine, with the Main Directorate of Intelligence, which are involved in coordinating the search," he added.

Timchenko specified that today almost 9 thousand families have received extracts from the Unified Register or missing persons.

The Ministry of Reintegration told how to get an extract from the Unified Register of persons missing under special circumstances.

Such extracts are provided by the Department of informatisation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

To obtain an extract it is necessary to:

• send an application to the e-mail: pgmia@mvs.gov.ua or to the address of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Kyiv, 10 Bogomoltsa str;
• attach to the application copies of the applicant's passport and a document confirming family ties with the missing person.

Data verification is carried out within 30 calendar days.

The extract is sent to the e-mail address specified in the application or to the return postal address.

Important: inclusion of a person in the register is the only confirmation that a person is considered missing under special circumstances.

The presence of data about a person in the register does not confirm the death or captivity of the person.
