- Salaries of prisoners of war and missing persons will be received by their families

The Ukrainian authorities have not announced the number of servicemen and law-enforcement officers killed in the fighting.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the law No 9638 on strengthening social protection of servicemen and policemen, which, among other things, provides for transferring the salaries of captives to their families.
The Rada adopted this document on 24 August 2023. The very mechanism for transferring salaries to the families of prisoners should be further approved by bylaws.
The document says that the families of Ukrainian servicemen and policemen killed in the war will be able to receive monetary compensation for all the unused days of leave by their relatives.
It is also provided for the preservation of monetary allowances of persons who were captured, missing in action under special circumstances. It is a question of the possibility of paying this money to their families.
At the same time, this does not apply to those who voluntarily surrendered or left their places of service," the document says.
We would like to point out that the Ukrainian authorities do not disclose the number of servicemen and law-enforcement officers killed during the hostilities.
According to the Ukrainian Centre for Civil Liberties, there may be more than 10,000 citizens of the country in captivity.
