Ombudsman confirms killing of teenagers by occupiers in Berdyansk

Information about the deaths of two teenagers at the hands of Russian occupants in the temporarily seized city of Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhya Region, has appeared online. At the same time, it was reported that the young lads had allegedly killed a Russian policeman and another colaborator, and were also involved in a guerrilla movement that was committing sabotage against the occupiers.

Ombudsman Dmitriy Lubinets confirmed the deaths of the children and gave details of their deaths.

According to him, the boys and their families had previously been persecuted by the Russians. In particular, Tigran Hovhannesyan, who recorded the latest video, was abducted from his home, interrogated and tortured with electric shocks.

Lubinets added that on May 24 the guys were charged by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for allegedly preparing sabotage on the railway. They were facing up to 20 years in prison. When the situation gained publicity, the guys tried in every way to leave for Ukraine-controlled territory, and the European Parliament demanded that the Russian Federation release them. The Ukrainian authorities also tried to help the boys escape. However, they failed.

Oganesyan and his comrade Khanganov are known to have killed a Russian policeman and a collaborator-police officer on 25 May, after which they fought the occupiers and died, becoming heroes. Before his death, Oganesyan recorded a video. His last words were: "Glory to Ukraine!

The ombudsman pointed out that the whole world should understand that human rights are violated every day in the occupied territories and until Ukraine takes back its territories, this will continue.
