The man's family advised him to carry humanitarian aid, but he refused and helped the fire brigade.



Nils himself is a firefighter from the German city of Nuremberg, Bavaria. The man has been helping Ukraine for several months now. Together with Kharkiv rescuers, the German is eliminating the consequences of Russian aggression, the Voice of America reports.

When he saw the news of the incident in Ukraine, he could not stand by and decided he wanted to help:

For me, this war is something in common. A war against everything we have achieved since the two world wars and the Holocaust, undermining the UN, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and universal freedom, democracy, equality. This war knows no borders.
