Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Moldova has extradited 35 people to Ukraine who crossed the border illegally.

This information was confirmed to NiewsMaker by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

In the period from 24.02.2022 to 01.10.2023 bodies of the State Border Service of Ukraine from the competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova accepted 35 citizens of Ukraine, who entered or were on the territory of the Republic of Moldova with violation of legislation on crossing the state border, - stated in the message.

It is noted that the transfer of people took place within the framework of the agreement concluded in 2017 between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Moldova on readmission - forced expulsion of persons who illegally arrived on the territory of one of the countries or lost the grounds for legal stay.

The State Border Service of Ukraine carries out readmission under an accelerated procedure. The citizens are returned after being detained by Moldovan border guards within 48 hours from the moment of illegal border crossing.

The journalists added that Moldova does not have the right to expel a person who crossed the border illegally and requested asylum. However, the rule does not apply if the person poses a threat to Moldova's security.
