Mertz will meet with Trump and talk about Ukraine

Germany remains one of Ukraine's most active allies.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz plans to make an official visit to Washington on 5 June, where his first meeting with US President Donald Trump will take place. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the statement of the official representative of the German government Stephan Cornelius.
According to information, the agenda of the talks includes key international issues, including the Russian-Ukrainian war, the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East and current aspects of trade policy.
After the meeting, Mertz and Trump will give a joint press conference at the White House. The format and date of the event was agreed between the parties for several weeks.
It is noted that this will be the first personal contact between the new German Chancellor and the current US President. Since taking office, Friedrich Merz has already made a number of visits to key European capitals - he has travelled to France, Poland, the Nordic countries and also visited Ukraine.
