China presents its version of a "peace plan"

This is what the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on its website.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has published its vision of a "peace plan" in the war between Ukraine and Russia. It consists of 12 points:

• Respect for the sovereignty of all countries
• Abandoning the "Cold War mentality"
• Cessation of hostilities
• Resumption of peace talks
• Settlement of humanitarian crisis
• Protecting civilians and prisoners of war
• Securing nuclear power plants
• Reducing strategic risks
• Grain export facilitation
• Ending "unilateral sanctions"
• Supporting industrial and supply chain stability
• Facilitating post-war reconstruction.

It is important to support reciprocal steps by Moscow and Kiev in favour of an early restoration of direct dialogue, a gradual de-escalation of tensions and a complete cessation of hostilities.

It is important to note that the official Chinese document refers to the war as the "Ukrainian crisis", which is more in line with the Russian propaganda narrative.

The document also states that unilateral sanctions and maximum pressure will not help to solve the problem.

The PRC document also notes that the "use of nuclear weapons" is unacceptable.
