Russian prisoners of war are treated humanely in Ukraine, according to the Geneva Convention

In Ukraine, Russian prisoners of war who came to kill Ukrainians are treated in Ukraine in compliance with the requirements of the 3rd Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
This was stated by Petro Yatsenko, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, during a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukraine Media Centre, Ukraine Media Center has reported.
Petro Yatsenko said that Russian prisoners of war are kept in a camp in western Ukraine. According to the requirements of the Geneva Conventions, the camp should be located away from hostilities.
There are conditions for work in the camp - all Russian POWs of the rank and file work, the officers have the right to refuse to work, but most of them do so, expressing their voluntary consent. The work that is done is not hard. Sunday is a day free from work, - said Pyotr Yatsenko.
Also Russian prisoners of war receive three meals a day of caloric food from quality products. The camp has conditions for medical care, as many POWs have various afflictions, including severe injuries.
A church is available for Christian POWs. For Muslims, there is an equipped place for namaz.
There are also opportunities for leisure and sports - the camp has a sports ground and a football field.
Since September 2022 the state project "I want to live" has been working in Ukraine. Its main task is to save the lives of mobilised servicemen of the Russian Federation who do not want to fight against Ukraine. During the existence of the project has already received more than 22 thousand appeals.

He explained that those Russians who surrender voluntarily, have the opportunity to be exchanged or remain in captivity until the end of the war, have the opportunity to ask for asylum in Ukraine or in some European countries.
