Study shows Ukrainians in Poland have become more affluent

According to the survey, the financial situation of Ukrainians has improved during the year of full-scale war.

The majority of Ukrainians in Poland are now mostly women with higher education and children. This contrasts with the situation before Russia invaded on 24 February 2022. In January 2022, 57% of Ukrainians in Poland were men. Now that figure has dropped to 40%.

At the same time, the number of children under 18 from Ukraine has increased from 200 thousand to 1.4 million, but the share of people aged 45 to 60 has decreased.

In January 2022 only 6% of the Ukrainian population in Poland were very well-off. Now 24% already declare that they have a good financial situation. And 64% say they are moderately wealthy.

Over the year the percentage of people in very good financial standing has increased by 7% (to 13%), and with good financial standing by as much as 30% (to 54%).

Over the year Ukrainians also changed the place where they spend their leisure time. Those are, more often, shopping centres. It was like that before. And the share of people who go to swimming pools or sports halls rose from 5% in 2022 to 18% in 2023. Ukrainians also went to the theatres and cinemas more often (from 1% to 4%). But those who go to restaurants have decreased, from 36%, and now only 6% of Ukrainians go there.
