The local church in Łódź raised over PLN 1.2 million. And he is going to use these funds to build houses for refugees from Ukraine.

And then suddenly protests began in the city. Residents are against such construction. However, it should be noted that they have nothing against the Ukrainian refugees themselves. But they fear that the homeless will be settled in these houses when they return home after the war. So in this way, security in the area may deteriorate.

At the end of April, in the cathedral in the city of Lodz, Metropolitan of Lodz, Archbishop Grzegorz Rys announced a fundraiser. Moreover, the Metropolitan of Lodz said he would finance the cost of two houses himself, the archdiocese would pay for the third building, and announced a fundraiser for the rest. A few months later, 1.2 million zł were collected. According to the plan, 10-15 houses should be built with the funds raised.

A building site has already been agreed upon - this is an urban area: wooded and adjacent to tiny houses in the Radogoshch-West area. The church asked the city authorities to transfer the site for sale at a discount. Lodz has already started all the necessary procedures.

However, the locals do not like building a housing estate for refugees. The protesters fear, in particular, the "creation of a ghetto" and the people who will live in "archbishop's houses" when the refugees return to Ukraine. Most of all, the future neighbors of the complex oppose the construction.
