The head of the organization said that such a decision was caused due to the sharp number of infected people in the world. About 16,000 cases of infection have already been identified in 47 countries. Only 3 thousand cases of infection were a month earlier.
“There is a risk of further spread of the virus across different countries, although we assess the risk that the virus will cause disruption of international communication as low,” the head of WHO added.
At the same time, WHO has developed recommendations for countries, depending on the recorded cases of infection in the country and the speed of the spread of the virus.
Recall that the monkey virus is not so deadly, but close to the black pox virus. In West Africa, there have been cases of 10% deaths. The disease it causes is usually mild, much like chickenpox. Symptoms go away after a few weeks.
The main symptoms are fever, headache, and back pain. Also, other symptoms may appear.
