EU will find a way to bypass Orban's veto on Ukraine's European integration process

Viktor Orbán opposes Kiev's European integration. He believes that Ukraine's EU membership will ruin the Hungarian economy.
The EU is ready to find ways to overcome possible obstacles that may come from Hungary and Slovakia on the way to Ukraine's European integration. This was stated by EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius in an interview with the Studio West programme on the Espresso TV channel.
Commenting on the actions of Hungary and Slovakia in the context of the Ukrainian issue at the EU level, Kubilius said that the situation has long been known and that the EU will find a solution despite the obstacles.
We are confident that the EU will be able to overcome the veto of Hungary, in particular Viktor Orbán on Ukraine's European integration," he said.
He also emphasised the importance of taking into account the signal that Hungary sends by protesting against Ukraine's EU membership.
For example, Budapest's recent appeal to the European Commission to allow it to increase defence spending by 1.5 percent shows the country's desire to strengthen its defence capabilities. It seems that Hungary is beginning to realise that the threat from Russia is not limited only to the Baltic States and Poland, but also concerns Hungary, Slovakia and Romania," Kubilius added.
According to him, the EU understands the position of these countries and is committed to finding ways to overcome any obstacles that may arise on the way of co-operation with Ukraine.
It is obvious to us that the future of Europe and the strengthening of our common security is impossible without Ukraine," the EU commissioner concluded.
We would like to point out that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has again made accusations against Ukraine. He spoke about an "unprecedented attack by special services" and accused Ukraine of organising a coordinated campaign against Hungary. According to him, the purpose of this alleged campaign is to disrupt the initiative to poll Hungarians on Ukraine's membership in the EU.
We shall remind you that the European Commission announced its intention to admit Ukraine to the EU by 2030.
