Defence Ministry refutes fake about US citizenship of Umerov's children

The Defence Ministry has said that the information circulating in some media that members of the family of Defence Minister Rustem Umerov are allegedly US citizens does not correspond to reality. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defence.

It is reported that Umerov's children (son - 10 years old, daughters - 8 and 2 years old) are exclusively citizens of Ukraine. Members of Umerov's family do not have citizenship of other countries.
Ukrainian passports, which were issued to them after the expiry of the previous ones, they received at the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States. That is why in the declaration, to which the media refers, and specified the place of issue of documents - the United States, - specified in the Ministry of defence.
It is reported that in 2016 the family of Rustem Umerov was forced to leave the country because of assassination attempts and threats as a result of Umerov's systematic activities on de-occupation of temporarily occupied Crimea.
Since 2014, Rustem Umerov, as a delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people, has spoken at all international platforms about violations of people's rights in occupied Crimea.
