As winter cold weather approaches, border guards are stepping up preparations to repel air attacks on the border with Russia.
Border guards in Sumy Region are carrying out systematic work on the effectiveness of countering enemy drones. The video of the work of the mobile firing group was published by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
One of the mobile firing groups of border guards showed what their "working day" looks like.
On command, the fighters promptly leave for a certain place. They detect targets with the help of searchlights and thermal imagers and destroy them with available weapons.
During the last two weeks in Sumy region border guards destroyed four enemy drones, including two attack drones of "Shahed-136/131" type and two FPV-drones.
Incidentally, the Shaheds were shot down in the dark by sound alone. In the other two cases, in addition to small arms, anti-drone guns were used," the report said.
Mobile firing groups of border guards play an important role in the defence of Ukrainian airspace.
Around the clock, day and night, in any weather, these crews are on combat duty to identify and destroy enemy drones.
In the event that confirmed information is received about a likely UAV route, a mobile fire team of border guards is immediately dispatched to the specified direction to neutralise it.
