Today, 26 February, in the afternoon, the Russian army shelled the border area of Sumy region, resulting in the death of a civilian man.
This was reported by the press service of the Sumy regional prosecutor's office.
At about 15:00 the Russians fired mortars at the village of Ryzhevka of Bilopol territorial community.
As a result of the shelling, a 68-year-old man was injured. He died of his injuries on the way to hospital.
Prosecutors in co-operation with other law enforcers are documenting the consequences of the shelling. Materials of criminal proceedings in the future will be transferred to the SBU, - noted in the Prosecutor's office.
Law enforcers have launched a pre-trial investigation into the fact of violation of laws and customs of war, coupled with intentional killing (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
We will add that the Russians shelled Sumy region at night. As a result of the shelling, private houses and property of a farm in Akhtyrskyy district were damaged.
