The model of conscription into the Ukrainian army may become similar to the Israeli one.

The model of conscription for service in the Ukrainian army after the end of the current war may change. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with students and professors from leading educational institutions in Israel.

In particular, the president was asked if Ukraine could come to a military conscription model similar to the Israeli one. In this country, most prospective students are drafted into the army or do alternative service. Therefore, the average age of a first-year student is about 23 years.

This is one of the models that is considered in the security reform, which we are preparing on the basis of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There is such a model. I'm not sure what exactly such a model will be, but we will definitely consider this model, discuss it with the public,” he replied.

The President added that "it will not be the same as before, in terms of protecting our state and in terms of our army, as well as the number of military personnel, and the approach will be changed for students."

In Israel, there is a principle that all citizens who have reached the age of 18 are subject to conscription. Military service for men lasts 36 months, and for women - 24. The country is convinced that it is this period that makes it possible to master the military specialty well.

After military service, most soldiers should be in the reserve. At the same time, Israeli citizens can freely go to training and master new professions. Thus, the average age of an Israeli first-year student is about 23 years old.

In addition, there is a criminal liability in the country for trying to "slope" from the army and for hazing within it.
