WSJ: US will immediately send Ukraine missiles to NASAMS air defence systems

The Biden administration intends to provide maximum assistance to Ukraine before head of state Donald Trump takes office.
The USA will immediately send 500 interceptor missiles to Ukraine to the NASAMS and Patriot air defence systems. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The White House believes that such a number of missiles should cover Ukraine's needs in them by the end of the year. It is indicated that they will be delivered to the territory of our country in full by the end of the year.
Such assistance is provided because of the increase in massive Russian drone attacks on Ukraine," the publication's source in the Biden administration explained.
WSJ also writes that the US has $7 billion earmarked for military aid to Ukraine and also has more than $2 billion to finance long-term contracts for the supply of equipment for the defence forces.
NASAMS is a SAM to counter manoeuvring aerodynamic targets at low and medium altitudes, a short to medium range air defence system. Depending on the missiles, it can hit targets at distances from 20 to 180 km and altitudes up to 21 km with a maximum speed of 1000 m/s. The development belongs to the Norwegian firm Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and the American Raytheon.
It should be noted that 171 military clashes took place on the frontline over the past 24 hours on 8 November. Most of the attacks took place in the Pokrovskyy and Kurakhovskyy regions.
