Ukrainian schools may teach traffic rules

The Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovation recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis a draft law that proposes to study traffic rules in Ukrainian educational institutions.
This was reported by the portal Osvita.ua.
In particular, the law "On Education", "On Pre-School Education" and "On General Secondary Education" have been amended accordingly.
Study of traffic rules is proposed to introduce by supplementing the educational standards with a norm about compulsory acquisition of knowledge on traffic safety by children.
Besides, it is offered to involve parents in studying of traffic rules and they shall promote acquisition of the specified competence by children by their guidance and behavior.
It is noted that this initiative will help to improve road safety in Ukraine.
Based on the results of the review of the legislative initiative by the members of the VR Education Committee, it was recommended to adopt the draft law as a basis and instruct it to be prepared for the second reading.
