Since the beginning of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the United States has accepted at least one hundred thousand Ukrainians.

During the five months of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the United States took in more than 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. This was stated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, reports Axios .

It is noted that about 47,000 Ukrainians arrived in the United States on temporary or immigrant visas, and almost 30,000 Ukrainians arrived under the United for Ukraine program, which provides for the sponsorship of Americans arriving from Ukraine. Another 22,000 Ukrainians entered the United States across the border with Mexico, and 500 Ukrainians entered the country through the regular refugee system.

The article states that these Ukrainians can get a permanent residence permit, and in the future, citizenship of the United States. At the same time, the publication emphasizes that this is not a quick process and it may take years.

We are very proud to help provide asylum to Ukrainians who are fleeing an unprovoked Russian invasion. The Department will continue to accept new Ukrainians in the coming weeks and months in accordance with President Biden's commitments, the US Department of Homeland Security said.

More than 8.7 million people have left Ukraine since February 24, according to the UNHCR. Many have taken refuge in neighboring states. In March alone, almost 3.4 million Ukrainians left the country.

An additional eight million people have also become internally displaced, according to a study by the International Organization for Migration.
