Parades cancelled in Moscow due to fear of Ukraine

There will be no parades on 9 May in Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as in Crimea and Moscow.
There will be no May Day processions and celebrations in Moscow this year. It was decided to cancel them because of some "terrorist threat". Alexander Shershukov, deputy chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of the Russian Federation, told Russian propagandists.
In particular, he said that there will be no marches or rallies in Moscow, but that a solemn meeting is planned, which will be attended by "trade union activists".
Despite the fact that Moscow is relatively far away from military operations, the parade has been decided to be cancelled," he said.
In his words, the main forms of celebration on May 1 this year are meetings in labour collectives, meetings of regional leaders with trade union activists as well as meetings of tripartite commissions.
Traditionally in Russia May Day demonstrations are organised by the authorities and trade union movements loyal to them.
Earlier, the leaders of a number of Russian regions bordering Ukraine and occupied Crimea announced the cancellation of usually high-profile military parades dedicated to Victory Day on 9 May.
