US Congress votes to confiscate Russian assets in favour of Ukraine

It will now be easier for the US to confiscate Russian assets and hand them over to Ukraine.
This was reported by CNN.
The US Senate on Thursday reportedly approved an amendment by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to the US government funding bill to confiscate assets of Russian oligarchs and transfer them to Ukraine.
This amendment would allow the Department of Justice, through the Secretary of State, to transfer funds received from seized assets of oligarchs or other sanctioned entities to the people of Ukraine. This initiative would be a real boon for the long-suffering people of Ukraine and would ease the burden on American taxpayers.
In this draft, the senators propose granting the US president extraordinary powers and introducing new procedures that would allow confiscation of criminally acquired assets and directing them to help Ukraine, for a period of three years, until 2025.
