Border guards have detained a priest of the Moscow Patriarchate in whose basement volunteers were kept during the Russian occupation. He was caught at the entrance to Kyiv.



This was reported by the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's press service.

During the inspection of the detainee, it was established that during the occupation of a village in Kyiv Region, the man was cooperating with the Russian army, feeding them and providing information about Ukrainians.

From the testimony of one of the Ukrainians held by the occupiers, which is in the public domain, it is said that the pro-Russian abbot was kept volunteers in the basement of the church," the report said.

In addition, the abbot of the church gave interviews to channels of the aggressor country and said that the war in Ukraine was punishment for sins and that Russians were long awaited in our lands.

The priest was handed over to officers of the National Police for legal action against him.
