During the occupation of Kherson, some Russians turned to local doctors to give them false diagnoses.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

The head of the city clinical hospital named after Afanasiy and Olha Tropin told the publication. Even after the occupation of Kherson, the head doctor Leonid Remiga and other staff maintained a pro-Ukrainian position and refused to cooperate with the occupants. They said that the hospital was closed for quarantine due to an outbreak of coronavirus.

According to the newspaper, the Russians also tried to gain Remiga's trust with the help of the FSB, which offered any assistance. However, the occupiers' efforts proved futile.

Also, head of the traumatology department of one of the hospitals Andrei Koksharov said:

One soldier said he was having problems with his knees. A scan showed that it was nothing serious, but the soldier asked Dr Koksharov to exaggerate.

Dr. Koksharov wrote that the occupant had arthritis and needed to leave the front. The doctor noted:

The less of them the better. I was ready to write these diagnoses for the whole army.
