Forensic experts have identified all those killed in a rocket attack on a cafe in the village of Groza.
This was reported by Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
As a result of Russian shelling in the village of Groza, 59 people were killed. Police forensic experts have identified all the dead - they are civilian local residents.
59 people were killed by the Russians by a direct hit of Iskander in the village of Groza. All the victims are local residents. Pensioners, medics, farmers, teachers, entrepreneurs. All civilians. Whole families of several generations died," Klymenko said.
According to him, 19 people were identified with the help of mobile DNA-laboratories. For this purpose, specialists took samples from relatives for 6 days, deduced profiles and searched for matching fragments.
One of the victims was identified by 20 body parts. The identity of two more people was established with the help of personal belongings collected at the place of residence of the deceased.
Colossal and unprecedented work was carried out by investigators and criminalists of Kharkiv police. Including thanks to modern mobile DNA-laboratories. Without them the process of identification of such a number of bodies and fragments took about a year, - the Minister added.
We will remind, the occupants hit Iskander at the cafe-shop in the village of Groza on 5 October. Local residents gathered for a memorial dinner for the fallen military officer.
