A passenger train derailed near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany on June 3. Two Ukrainian women became victims of the tragedy. Bild reports.
German media reported that the women left Ukraine after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion. Fleeing from the war, they settled in Germany. They lived with families hosting refugees.
In total, five people died. According to law enforcement officers, four women aged 32, 39, 51 and 70, as well as a teenager, died in the accident. At the same time, one of the Ukrainians was with a child who was hospitalized with serious injuries.
At the same time, the diplomatic missions of Ukraine in Germany did not comment on the incident and did not confirm the death of Ukrainians.
The accident injured about 60 people, including children, of the 140 passengers on the train, which followed from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Munich. Between seven and fourteen people are still missing. The train derailed near the village of Burgrain, and three carriages overturned.
Bavarian Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter said the accident could have been due to a technical malfunction, but the exact cause is unknown.
