Germany intends to change policy towards Russia

Europe must reconsider its policy towards the Russian Federation: create a new European security architecture based on military deterrence, political and economic isolation of Russia. This was stated by the deputy of the Bundestag from the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the head of the parliamentary committee on international affairs, Michael Roth, writes DW .

About Russia, we need more realism, not naive wishful thinking, Roth said.

In his opinion, security in Europe can exist "only against Russia, and not together with it."

Roth called for a review of German policy towards Russia and said that the countries do not have a common future. The politician also stressed the "gross mistakes" that his party had made in the past, namely rapprochement with the USSR.

At the same time, according to him, in order to rethink this policy, "in no case should we abandon the traditional social-democratic lines."

Earlier in Berlin, for the first time, a real estate deal was stopped due to the fact that the owner is on the sanctions list of Russia. The owner started the sale in 2021. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was on the EU sanctions list. Sale stopped, any rental income frozen.
