US announces new military aid package for Ukraine


The Biden administration will provide military aid to Ukraine from the US Department of Defence's stockpile.
The USA announced a new package of military assistance during Defence Minister Lloyd Austin's visit to Kiev. This was reported by the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.
It will include ammunition and military equipment worth more than 100m dollars.
In particular, the United States will provide:
- stinger anti-aircraft missiles,
- hIMARS system and ammunition,
- 155mm and 105mm artillery shells,
- anti-tank missiles,
- javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems,
- 3 million rounds of ammunition,
- explosive munitions for obstacle clearance,
- cold-weather gear,
- spare parts and other equipment.
This aid package is the fifty-first tranche of equipment that the Biden Administration will provide to Ukraine from U.S. Department of Defence stocks beginning in August 2021.
We, along with our allies and partners, will continue to support Ukraine's immediate combat and long-term defence needs," US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin wrote on social media X.
The US Defence Ministry said that the package includes additional air defence, artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons and other equipment that will help Ukraine defend its sovereign territory. and fight for its freedom from Russia's ongoing war of aggression.
