Ukraine needs 200 multi-purpose aircraft to fully defend itself - Air Force

This was stated by Yuriy Ignat, spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of the French TV channel La Chaîne Info.

According to him, Ukraine needs to replace morally and physically obsolete Soviet aircraft of various types with a single type of multi-purpose fighter, which could be the F-16. The optimal number of such fighters is 200.

We are inferior in technology. Therefore there is a serious need. It is necessary to create up to 5 brigades of tactical aviation with one type of multi-purpose aircraft of the Western model. What type it will be is being determined... It is clear that we cannot get everything at once, but phased transition to the new multi-purpose aircraft is a requirement of time.

Now the enemy air grouping exceeds the Ukrainian aviation five to six times in the number of combat vehicles.

The air superiority will allow us to successfully carry out ground operations, in particular to de-occupy our territories, the speaker of the Armed Forces stressed.
