Ukraine signed an agreement on grain exports with Turkey and the UN: what is known

The agreement provides that Ukraine will control ports on the Black Sea. They should only contain ships that ensure the export of grain and related foodstuffs and fertilizers.

The UN sees this as a major diplomatic victory in the midst of a brutal war that has now been going on for five months. They consider the resumption of exports to be vital both for Ukraine and for the whole world, since the suspension of grain exports threatens global food security, the report says.

Tomorrow, a coordination center will begin to be created in Istanbul, which will ensure security and compliance with the conditions by all parties.

It is expected that it will take several weeks to start the whole process.

According to analysts, about 20 million tons of grain have accumulated in Odessa and its environs alone.

It is reported that grain will have to be exported through mined waters around the Black Sea ports.
