The state is preparing to protect the thyroid glands of Ukrainians.

The Ministry of Health has purchased enough necessary drugs in case of a possible accident at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko spoke about this on the air of a nationwide telethon.

In particular, the head of the department said that there is no need to buy potassium iodide now.

For possible accidents, as at the Zaporozhye NPP, we are preparing and will continue to prepare. We understand how to act. But now there is no need to run to the pharmacy, - said Lyashko.

According to Lyashko, the drugs purchased by the Ministry of Health will protect the thyroid glands from radiation hazards.

The head of the department stressed that all hospitals in the potential zone of the station's impact are provided with this drug.

Moreover, these are tablets in which the active substances are contained in exactly the proportions that are needed, - he noted.

At the same time, he emphasized that at this time there is no need to take the drug.

Note that the Russians are constantly shelling the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Both Ukraine and international organizations consider this situation to be extremely dangerous, since damage to the station could threaten our country and neighboring countries with a new nuclear catastrophe in Europe.

Against the backdrop of panic, many Ukrainians are buying iodine-containing drugs. However, as doctors warn, their thoughtless use can be harmful to health.
