The Rada Committee supported the subsoil agreement with important clarifications

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation has approved the draft law on ratification of the agreement between Ukraine and the USA on strategic cooperation in the sphere of subsoil use. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, the committee members supported the ratification both as a basis and as a whole. In favour of the relevant decision voted 11 deputies, one abstained, two more did not participate in the vote.

The committee also proposed to make important clarifications to the text of the agreement, in particular:

• additional agreements on the creation of the Recovery Fund should not contradict the provisions of the agreement;

• the agreement will be valid on the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders.

The final vote in the Verkhovna Rada is scheduled for 8 May.

We shall remind you that on 1 May 2025, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yuliya Sviridenko and the US Treasury Secretary signed an agreement on a strategic partnership in the mining and processing of critical minerals. This document became the first step towards deeper co-operation between the countries in the sphere of subsoil use.
