The Prosecutor-General's Office continues to record bullying of Ukrainians by Russians.
The Prosecutor-General's Office of Ukraine has said that it already knows about 3,800 civilians who were tortured by Russian invaders. This was stated by Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin.
According to him, this is preliminary data and the number of Ukrainians who were tortured by the Russians during the occupation may be higher.
Kostin also pointed out that the agency is now investigating more than 1,100 criminal proceedings on the facts of torture. More than 80 people have been reported on suspicion, 18 of whom have already been convicted.
According to the Prosecutor-General's Office, law enforcers found a total of 104 torture centres in eight Ukrainian regions where Russian soldiers were stationed. The largest number of torture centres was found in Kharkiv Region - 25, Zaporizhzhya Region - 18, Kherson Region - 11, Donetsk Region - 10. And also 19 - on the territory of the Russian Federation. At the same time, almost 90 per cent of captives and detainees are subjected to torture or some kind of violence - physical or psychological.
The Prosecutor General's Office believes that torture in the Russian Federation is a planned state policy.
Kostin called on the allies to create an effective international mechanism for the release of illegally detained persons and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these crimes.
