U.S. says ready to defend Baltic states if necessary
The US will soon deploy an additional HIMARS platoon to Estonia.
This was announced by Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin during a briefing in Tallinn.
Austin said that the United States will defend Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, if necessary. Also, America will maintain its military presence in the region.
I want to make one thing clear to the Estonian people today: the United States will continue to be unwaveringly committed to the freedom and sovereignty of our Baltic allies.
Austin reminded us of US President Joe Biden's statement about increasing the military presence in the Baltic States.
The consequence of these statements will be the deployment of an additional HIMARS platoon, as well as a motorised infantry company, which are conducting joint exercises with the country's national defence force to enhance interoperability and security between Estonia and NATO.
