Russian occupiers executed 32 Ukrainian prisoners of war over winter - UN

Russian occupiers torture prisoners of war, use physical violence, electric shock, threats of firing squad or its imitation.
According to the 38th UN report on the human rights situation in Ukraine, 32 executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian occupants were recorded between 1 December 2023 and 29 February 2024. This is stated in the UN report.
The UN monitoring mission also interviewed 60 military personnel who had been released from captivity. It found that most of them had suffered violence.
They described ill-treatment by the occupiers, inability to communicate with family, poor nutrition and lack of medical care.
UN mission chief Daniel Belle said it appeared that Russian military and officials methodically tortured the captives using physical abuse, electric shocks, prolonged uncomfortable postures, threats of execution or simulated execution.
The report also indicates that the Russian administration in Ukraine's occupied territories is carrying out violence against civilians, such as killings, illegal arrests and restrictions on freedom of speech.
According to the UN, 429 civilians were killed and 1,374 wounded during the three-month period.
