Russia wanted to assassinate Ukraine's defence minister and intelligence chief
Russia wanted to smuggle a specially trained hitman into Ukraine.
The acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, said this in an interview with Nataliya Moseychuk.
He said that relatively recently the Russians had tried to kill Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov and Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.
This is not the first attempt. And according to Malyuk, these are not the only targets. He said that the enemy is hunting many high-ranking Ukrainian officials.
The perpetrator was sent here. Before that they set a test assignment to an agent to eliminate one military man, a control was made. For a start they paid $100,000 and we detained him when he was entering from a third country.
