Ukraine has imposed sanctions against a number of Russian cultural and media figures.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed two decrees dated 18 April 2025, by which he imposed personal sanctions against a number of Russian citizens, as well as persons with several citizenships, including Ukrainian, Sud.ua has reported.

The sanctions lists included cultural, show business and media figures. Decree No 246/2025 imposes sanctions on actor Vitaliy Gogunskyy, known for the TV series Univer. According to the SBU, he was previously informed of suspicion in absentia. It is noted that he also has Ukrainian citizenship.

Showman Nikita Dzhigurda, who, according to the document, is also a citizen of Ukraine, also fell under the restrictions. The sanctions were also applied to ballet dancer Sergey Polunin, a native of Ukraine, who has lived abroad, including in the UK and Russia, and has citizenship of three countries: Ukraine, Russia and Serbia.

The sanctions lists also include:

  • actress Irina Apeksimova (TV series "Bourgeois' Birthday");

  • singer Yaroslav Dronov, who performs under the pseudonym Shaman;

  • film director Yegor Konchalovsky;

  • animal trainer Yuri Kuklachev;

  • actor Alexander Pankratov-Black;

  • musicians Nikolai Rastorguev, Alexander Rosenbaum and Igor Sukachev.

All these individuals are subject to the standard restrictions: blocking of assets, ban on entering Ukraine and a number of other measures.
