Putin intends to disrupt peace talks in Switzerland - mass media

Putin is looking for a way to "rest so he can then attack with renewed vigour", Western experts say.
Putin intends to disrupt the peace talks in Switzerland. This was reported by the Russian service of the German publication BILD.
The publication recalls that Putin said the previous day that he was allegedly ready to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine along the current conflict line.
This is akin to a deliberate information campaign. Vladimir Putin wants to disrupt the peace talks in Switzerland and provide talking points for his supporters in Europe ahead of the European Parliament elections. Putin may be on the edge of his military capabilities right now and is looking for ways to rest so that he can attack with renewed vigour later," military expert Nico Lange told BILD.
At the same time, Putin's goal is different - to rearm and attack Ukraine once again
Because Russia's goals have not changed," analyst Thomas Jaeger told the newspaper.
He also notes that Putin's statements may be aimed at US politicians who are debating whether Kiev can strike Russian territory with US weapons.
In turn, military expert Robert Lee of the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia believes that Putin does not intend to stop the war, as he believes that he can seize more Ukranian land by throwing more soldiers to the front.
The main thing Putin wants to achieve is to create the illusion that the Russian-Ukrainian war, the end of which is not in sight, can end with peace talks, and for this to happen, Ukraine "simply" needs to agree to a ceasefire and not to claim the already occupied territories," the publication stresses.
We shall remind you that Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia wants to disrupt the upcoming peace summit, which will be held on 15-16 June in Switzerland. He pointed out that the intelligence agency has precise information that Russia not only wants to disrupt the peace summit, but also has a concrete plan on how to do it: how to reduce the participation of countries, how to act so that there would be no peace for even longer.
