The occupants use the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant as a firing position for placing MLRS and shelling Ukrainian territories.

IAEA experts on Sunday, 26 November, at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant heard characteristic sounds of unguided rocket launches from multiple rocket launchers (MLRS). This was reported by the IAEA.

Although the IAEA team did not see the rockets themselves because of the clouds, the characteristic sound indicated that they were fired from MLRS near Zaporozhye NPP.

Today's events once again clearly demonstrate the extremely fragile nuclear safety situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP. Europe's largest nuclear power plant, located on the front line, continues to face many potential threats as a result of this tragic war," said IAEA Director General Raphael Grossi.

Rafael Grossi said that he remains deeply concerned about nuclear safety and security at the plant, both with regard to its vulnerable off-site power supplies, which could be affected by attacks far from the site, and the more direct military risks it faces.

The IAEA Director General emphasised that the apparent firing of missiles near the ZNPP is a particular source of concern.

Grossi also reported that ZNPP lost contact with its main external power line on Sunday 26 November, forcing it to rely on backup power to cool the reactor during the latest incident.
