Russia does not consider the resumption of negotiations with Ukraine a priority, Sergey Lavrov has said. At the same time, Moscow admits considering such an issue if there is a relevant initiative.

Russia currently does not consider the resumption of negotiations with Ukraine as a priority. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, his words were spread by the Russian state mass media.

According to Lavrov, the issue of negotiations on ending the war "is not among Moscow's top priorities". At the same time, he admitted that Russia may consider relevant proposals if they come, but emphasised that the initiative is not urgent.

In his comments, Lavrov also criticised countries supporting Ukraine. His remarks against the so-called "coalition of the willing" were evaluative and politically biased.

The Russian Foreign Minister made separate statements about Europe. In particular, he claimed that European countries were allegedly discussing the creation of a new military bloc with the participation of Ukraine, and also made a number of sharp and unconfirmed statements about the "spread of Nazi ideology" in certain countries. Such statements have previously been repeatedly criticised as elements of Russian propaganda rhetoric.

Commenting on the situation in the Middle East, Lavrov suggested that possible US actions against Iran could be related to attempts to control oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. These statements are also of an evaluative nature and are not supported by evidence.

At the same time, he said that Russia remained open to a dialogue with the USA on economic cooperation.

Against the background of these statements, Ukraine continues its diplomatic efforts. Earlier, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was ready for talks with Vladimir Putin with the participation of international mediators, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump.
