Charles Michel was one of the first to react, and the UN tells us about Russian language day.

On the night of 6 June , the Russians blew up the Kakhovska hydroelectric station.

The villages of Nikolaevka, Olhovka, Levo, Tyaginka, Poniatovka, Ivanovka, Tokarevka, Prydniprovske, Sadovoye and partly the city of Kherson - Korabel Island are in the potential flood zone on the right bank of the Dnieper River.

The evacuation of the local population from the dangerous areas is underway.

Reaction in Europe

One of the first to publish his reaction to the events in Kherson region was the head of the European Council, Charles Michel.

He was "shocked" by the bombing of the Kakhovskaya hydropower plant and called it a war crime for which Russia will surely answer.

Michel also said that the issue will be raised in the EU Council. Assistance to the affected region will also be discussed.

The International Atomic Energy Agency also published its reaction.

The IAEA is aware of reports of damage to the dam at Kakhovka in Ukraine; IAEA experts at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant are closely monitoring the situation; there is no immediate nuclear safety risk at the plant.

UN scandal

However, Ukrainians were most outraged by the UN's reaction. They published a post on Twitter saying that today is Russian language day. And gave a link to the UN account in Russian.

Ukrainians wrote a number of angry comments specifically under this post. It is worth noting that the UN later responded to the terrorist actions of the Russians at the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant. They wrote:

The destruction of the Kakhovka dam endangers thousands of civilians, leaving many homeless and in acute humanitarian need.

At the same time, not a word was said that Russia was to blame for the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
