Malyar says why the Russians blew up the Kakhov hydroelectric plant

The Russians blew up a dam at the Kakhov hydro-electric power station, triggering a disaster in Kherson Oblast.
By destroying the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant in Kherson Region, the Russian command is trying to divert part of the Ukrainian Defence Forces' forces and resources from the front line. This was reported by Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar in her Telegram channel.
According to the available information, it has become known that the enemy is moving its most combat-ready units from the Kherson direction, primarily units of the marines, airborne troops and the 49th Army," Malyar wrote.
The deputy defence minister explained that now the Russian Federation can redeploy the troops stationed along the Dnieper River to other directions.
According to Malyar, the released military reserves are being transferred by the enemy to the Bakhmut and Zaporizhzhya directions, where the occupants are now suffering heavy losses.
Therefore, the purpose of the Russians undermining the Kakhovska hydroelectric plant becomes obvious. Thus, given their own losses and limited reserves, thus realizing their inability to contain the Ukrainian offensive in different directions, the command of the Russian occupation troops decided to 'narrow down' the possible geography of active actions of the AFU," Malyar noted.
According to her, the undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP was obviously carried out in order to prevent the Ukrainian Defence Forces from launching an offensive in the Kherson direction.
Also, as Malyar noted, the Russian Federation expects the soldiers to be involved in the liquidation of the disaster, which means that the liberation of the left-bank part of the Kherson region will not take place.
On the night of 6 June, Russian forces blew up the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant, which had serious consequences. Water from the reservoir flooded many settlements in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
