Lithuania will change the procedure for employment of foreigners

Lithuania will tighten the procedures for employment and residence permits for foreigners.
Lithuania will tighten the procedures for employment of foreigners and the procedure for issuing temporary residence permits. LRT writes about it.
The Ministry of the Interior explained that recently there have been tendencies to create a number of new companies that do not operate in the country, but act as intermediaries in issuing temporary residence permits to foreigners.
In fact, they hire employees to work in some companies that do not ultimately hire these people, which, according to Lithuania, creates conditions for illegal migration.
If a company engages in fictitious activities or does not operate in Lithuania, it will be deprived of the right to invite foreigners to work for six months," the Lithuanian Interior Ministry warned.
In addition, if it turns out that a foreigner was invited by a company that cannot employ foreigners, his application for a residence permit or a residence permit will not be accepted.
The influx of labour migrants poses serious challenges. Responding to the current migration processes in the world and the changing geopolitical situation in the region, we must ensure that immigration procedures in our country are not abused," Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite said.
She noted that from now on the police will control work visas and the arrival of labour migrants. Previously, the Migration Department was in charge of this.
Last year, 50,000 foreigners came to Lithuania to work, mostly from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, and the number of foreigners from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is growing.
