- KSCA says which part of the resettled people plan to stay in Kyiv

Many newcomers believe that it is easier to find a job in Kiev than in the regions.
About 87 per cent of those who came to Kiev after the start of the war plan to stay in the capital. The deputy head of the Kiev city state administration, Maryna Honda, said this, referring to the results of a survey among the migrants.
She noted that for many decisive factor is still work. To find it in the capital, according to migrants in Kiev is easier than in the provinces. In addition, many people have relatives and friends in Kiev.
At the same time, Marina Honda specified that a significant part of those who fled to Kyiv because of the war came from Donetsk region and they simply have nowhere to return to.
The second largest group is migrants from Kherson region. The situation there is somewhat different: there is less large-scale destruction than in Donetsk region, but people are afraid that it might happen, so they hesitate to return," Honda said.
The deputy mayor specified that today there are 419 thousand IDPs registered in Kyiv. Of these, more than 185 thousand are people who moved to the capital since 2014. These were mainly IDPs from Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Since 2022, 232 thousand internally displaced persons have been registered in Kiev, of which almost 50 thousand are children under 18 years old.
She added that now people come to Kiev from war zones less actively, but did not rule out that their number will increase if the fighting on the contact line intensifies.
We would like to add that Kharkiv (13 per cent), Dnipropetrovsk (12 per cent), Kiev (8 per cent), Zaporizhzhya (6 per cent) and Kiev (10 per cent) regions received the most IDPs. The majority of IDPs came from Donbas, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson and Luhansk oblasts. At the same time, two thirds of IDPs come from the eastern part of Ukraine and 17 per cent from the southern regions. 28 per cent of migrants moved within their own region.
According to the IOM (International Organisation for Migration), as of August 2024, the number of IDPs in Ukraine is 3.67 million.
