Canadian technology facilitates the process, speeds up construction time, and makes it cost-effective.

Canadian architecture and design studio WZMH Architects has developed a solution to replace damaged sections of high-rise buildings affected by the war in Ukraine. The installation proposes to insert prefabricated modular blocks of concrete. Construction Canada writes about it.

Prefabricated modular units are inserted into an existing building. The solution is designed to significantly reduce the number of finishing materials such as drywall, carpet, and tiles, and includes a particular sandwich layer that eliminates the need for partitions, said Zenon Radovich, head of WZMH Architects.

The concept of these boxes is that the floor, walls, and ceiling are made of concrete, so they are strong. This is great for acoustics and fire resistance,” explains WZMH Architects.

We have been looking at how to reduce the weight of the blocks, and we are doing this by reducing the thickness of the concrete where possible and using lightweight concrete,” says Radovich.

The concept was approved by the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada. WZMH and a group of Ukrainian architects currently based in Canada will work with Ukrainian and Canadian government agencies to bring this idea to life.
