The painting was protected by armoured glass.

A group of eco-activists in Paris poured soup on the famous painting of Leonardo da Vinci "Mona Lisa".

The activists explained their act by the need to promote healthy and sustainable food.

Two activists, expressing their discontent, raised the question of priority: art or the right to healthy and organic food. They also highlighted the problems in France's agricultural system," the piece said.

Having doused the painting, the women removed their outer garments and appeared before visitors in white T-shirts with the inscription Riposte alimentaire ("Food counter-offensive").

This is not the first case of "attack" on the Mona Lisa. For example, in May 2022, a visitor smeared the protective glass of the painting with cake. After the arrest, he urged the guests of the museum to think about the planet. The painting then also did not suffer: the workers cleaned the glass and the frame from the cake.

In September, members of the eco-activist movement "Last Generation" (Letzte Generation) poured red and orange paint over one of Berlin's symbols - the Brandenburg Gate. In this way, the activists expressed their protest against the use of fossil fuels. Police officers arrived on the scene and detained 13 people
