The F-16 is a multifunctional combat aircraft that, on board with anti-ship missiles, is capable of bringing order even at sea.
Ukraine will be able to defeat the enemy when it receives modern F-16 fighters. A representative of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said this in an interview with Espresso.
According to him, the combat aircraft will make it possible to cover our territory where there are no air defence complexes.
When the planes arrive in Ukraine, they will be on combat duty in different regions at our operational airfields," Ihnat pointed out.
He noted that the country's territory and the length of the state border are large, and the front line, taking into account Belarus, Transnistria and the Black Sea coast, is over 2,500 km long. Ignat stressed that protecting such a territory of our country with only air defence systems such as NASAMS, IRIS-T, Patriot and already SAMP/T, as well as air defence of the land forces, is difficult.
So we need an F-16 that has fighter cover. It can also operate against aerial targets from below as well as above. Where there is no air defence, the F-16 will work," the spokesman for the AFU Air Force Command added.
He also added that the fighters will help the AFU liberate its territories faster and strike more effectively against the Russian occupier's command posts, groupings and logistics, including maritime targets.
The F-16 is a multi-purpose aircraft that can operate against ground, air and surface targets, as it is armed with Harpoon missiles among other things," Ignat summarised.
