France became the first country in the world to enshrine a constitutional right to abortion

France enshrined the right to abortion in its Constitution, a world first.
This is reported by Reuters.
The enshrinement of the right to abortion in the Constitution during a special joint vote of the two houses of parliament was supported by the majority of deputies and senators: 780 votes in favour and 72 against.
We send a message to all women: your body belongs to you, and no one can decide for you - said Prime Minister Gabriel Attal before the vote.
It is noted that in France women have the right to abortion since 1974, but from now on it is enshrined at the highest legislative level.
In turn, President Emmanuel Macron in social network X urged the French to celebrate the event.
French pride, a universal message. Let's celebrate together the entry of the new freedom guaranteed by the Constitution with the first printing ceremony of our history, open to the public. See you on 8 March, International Day for Women's Rights," he wrote.
Fierté française, message universel.
