Former British soldier was killed covering the retreat of his fellow Ukrainians

Jordan Getley, a former British soldier who was hailed as a true hero by friends and family, died while saving his group from Russian invaders.
His comrade, a veteran of the Canadian army Anton, told about this on the air of the ITV News channel.
Former British soldier Jordan Getley joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces in March.
Military father Dean Getley wrote about this on Facebook.
I didn't think I would ever use social media in this way, but Sally, Adam and I would like to share some family news with all of our friends, but there are too many people to contact. Yesterday (10.06.22) we received the terrible news that in the city of Severodonetsk, Ukraine, our son Jordan was shot, - said Getley
According to him, his son left the British army in March 2022 to continue his service in the ranks of a foreign battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Jordan and his brothers were so proud of the work they did. He often told me that the missions they were carrying out were dangerous but necessary. He loved his job and we are so proud of him. He really was a hero and will forever remain in our hearts, - the man summed up.
Military engineer Anton, together with Jordan Getley, defended Ukraine as part of a special unit of the International Legion, which is under the leadership of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
During the battle for Severodonetsk, the Getli detachment entered into battle with the Russian special forces, which led the offensive under the cover of tanks.
There was a lot of artillery, a lot of armored units, we made contact with Russian special forces units, Jordan stayed in a dangerous building to provide us with cover fire. A T-72 tank was approaching us, and the chances of survival were minimal,” says Anton.
The defender of Ukraine also said that Jordan's cover allowed the group to retreat to a safe place and continue to carry out the combat mission.
Being under heavy fire from the Russian troops, the special forces carried the body of the soldier away from the Russian troops. The scouts knew that Jordan would never have left one of them on the battlefield either.
